Scientific Programme

Programme

GEORAMAN 2006 is the 7th event of a series of international meetings devoted to the applications of Raman spectroscopy to the Earth and Planetary Sciences.

The meeting is addressed to all the scientists with interest in the Raman spectroscopy and their applications in geosciences sensu latu (geology, mineralogy, petrology and geochemistry), including work on art and archaeology, astrobiology and planetary and space research.

Special attention should be paid to the instrumental developments applied to the mentioned topics and work in new fields as forensic science applications, environmental studies and in-situ Raman spectroscopy

Conference Center

The meeting will be held in "Casa de la Cultura" of Almuņecar (See localization in map)

Main Topics

viņeta

Ambient and high-pressure mineralogy, including structural and thermodynamics applications; petrology and geochemistry,

viņeta

Astrobiology and space science applications; terrestrial Mars analogues; meteorites

viņeta

Art and Archaeology: pigments and dyes, gemstones, ceramics, artefacts, restoration and conservation

viņeta

Advances in Raman instrumentation with particular interest in planetary exploration, art and archaeology using portable and remote Raman systems.

viņeta

Raman databases and new tools for data-treatment and spectra management in Raman spectroscopy.

viņeta

Multi-method approaches: Raman spectroscopy combined with other techniques

viņeta

New applications of Raman Spectroscopy will be welcome, especially forensic science applications, environmental studies including biomineralisation processes, pollution monitoring, in situ submarine Raman analysis, and new approaches using Raman imaging and spectral mapping.
