This
school, encouraged by Geo-Raman IXth
meeting in Sydney,
is a CNRS thematic school that is sponsorized both by the European
Mineralogical Union and French Society of Mineralogy and
Crystallography (SFMC) from the following observation:
- Raman spectroscopy is a powerful tool for
research in many
fields of Erath Sciences and related sciences;
- the usual low education level in Raman
spectroscopy in the
undergraduate courses for students in Earth Sciences, which is an
obstacle to derive high quality scientific information from Raman
spectroscopy relevant for Earth sciences.
- the availability of many “plug and play”
commercial
instruments which could be used properly
Therefore, the aim of this school is to provide
the fundamental basis of Raman spectroscopy (theory, instrumentation,
chemometry) and to cover the different fields in Earth sciences for
which Raman
spectroscopy provides relevant data.
An EMU notes book
will be available at the conference
for every participant.
